New! News from our Crews!: We had three crews out on Winter Voyage this week. Welcome back Mr. Cody's sixth grade crew and both our fifth grade crews. It looks like you all had a great time! Meanwhile, back at school, Ms. Sami's crew put on our Beat and collected 292 pounds of cereal for the Help and Hope Center in Castle Rock! New! A Big Thank You!: Our staff would like to say thank you to Parent Crew and all the families who donated to the "Mint-er Wonderland" goodies this morning. It was such a delightful pick-me-up on this cold, dreary day. A Note from Ms. Sami's Crew: Our 4th-grade crew is coordinating an engaging and fun service project in partnership with a local food bank.   We are asking each student and staff member to bring in an unopened box of cereal by January 26th . NEW! A Note from the Health Room: We are running low on our extra clothes for emergencies in the health room. NEW! Battle of the Books! Our REMS 3/4 & 5/6 Battle of the Books teams participated in a mock battle hosted by Douglas County Libraries this week. Both teams did exceptional and we are so proud of all their hard work. The teams will have two more weeks of practice before the official battles begin. NEW! NEW! Note from Ms. Trena: Dear REMS Families,  The spirit of the season is certainly ringing throughout the halls of REMS this week!  We've had Sparkles, the Elf on the loose throughout the school spreading cheer and a little bit of mischief! Thank you to our Crew Parents for helping our teachers facilitate their holiday celebrations.  What a smashing success! Our students also competed in the REMS Spelling Bee.  A huge congratulations to  Wyatt Allmon  for winning the Spelling Bee and moving on to the DCSD Spelling Bee!  Thank you so much for showering our staff over the last week with treats, notes of gratitude and the Red Envelope! A visit from Buttercup, the Castle View High School Service Dog! NEW! A note from 4th grade: We are collecting bread bags to bring up to Keystone Science School (KSS ) on our winter voyage. We will be happy to have bags for our crews and to deliver KSS extra bags so they can use them with other schools.   Plus , it prevents the soft plastic from going directly into the trash and gives it another use-yeah sustainability!
