NEW!  A Note from Ms. Trena

Dear REMS Families,

We hope this message finds you enjoying Spring in Colorado. As we navigate the complexities of the modern world, the well-being of our students is our first priority. At REMS, we believe in nurturing the social and emotional growth of every child, fostering an environment where they feel supported, valued, and equipped with essential skills for life.

With this in mind, we want to emphasize the importance of social and emotional wellness for our crew. Just as we teach them to read, write, and solve equations, we also strive to empower them with the tools to navigate their emotions, build positive relationships, and thrive in all aspects of life. We are so fortunate to have our amazing Mental Health team, Ms. Allison, Ms. Tina, and Ms. Halle, who provide whole school social emotional wellness education with all of our crews weekly.

Here are a few key points we'd like to share with you:

Emotional Awareness: Encouraging children to recognize and understand their emotions is the first step towards healthy self-expression and self-regulation. We teach them to identify their feelings, validate them, and find constructive ways to manage them

Building Resilience: Life is full of ups and downs, and resilience is the ability to bounce back from challenges. Through various activities and discussions, we help students develop resilience by emphasizing problem-solving skills, optimism, and the importance of perseverance.

Empathy and Kindness: Empathy is the foundation of meaningful relationships. We encourage students to put themselves in others' shoes, understand different perspectives, and show kindness and compassion towards their peers.

Effective Communication: Clear and respectful communication is vital for healthy relationships. We teach students how to express their thoughts and feelings effectively, listen actively to others, and resolve conflicts peacefully.

Mindfulness and Self-Care: In today's fast-paced world, it's essential for children to learn how to slow down, be present in the moment, and take care of their well-being. We introduce mindfulness practices such as deep breathing, meditation, and gratitude exercises to help students cultivate inner calm and resilience.

Seeking Support: We want every child to know that it's okay to ask for help when they need it. Our school counselors and support staff are always available to provide guidance, support, and a listening ear whenever necessary.

Together, as a Crew community of educators, parents, and caregivers, we can create an environment where every child feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Thank you for your partnership in nurturing the whole child here at REMS.
