News from Ms. Trena:

A Farewell from Ms. Trena (for my students)

My dear crew, it is time for us to part,
But you’ll always hold a space in my grateful heart.
Our voyages together has come to an end,
But the lessons we’ve learned will stay around each bend.

Step outside where the green leaves grow,
Where rivers run and soft winds blow.
In nature’s arms, you’ll learn and play,
And find new wonders every day.

Lend a hand and share your light,
Serve your town and do what’s right.
Kindness grows when we are stewards that care—
You make the world better just being there.

When challenges come and things get tough,
Remember, you're strong, and brave enough.
With grit and heart, you’ll rise above,
Fueled by courage and dreams of love.

Follow your curiosity, chase each spark,
Let learning lead you through the dark.
From books to stars, from math to art—
Each new idea will grow in your heart.

Though I must go, this much is true:
The world is brighter because of you.
Go climb, explore, serve, dream, and try—
Your wings are ready. It’s time to fly.

I have so much love and gratitude for my time at REMS. It has been my greatest pleasure to serve this community and to love your children for the past five years. Have a wonderful summer and a wealth of adventures together. Signing off.

We Are Crew, Always!

News from Our Crews:

6th Grade- St. Mary's Glacier
Our 6th graders closed out their time at REMS with a memorable final voyage to St. Mary’s Glacier! As they hiked the icy terrain, students took time to reflect on their incredible journey and personal growth over the past seven years at REMS. The climb symbolized their perseverance, and the joyful slides back down were a fitting celebration of how far they’ve come. Several parents joined us for this special adventure, making it a meaningful and heartfelt send-off. What a beautiful way to mark the end of an unforgettable chapter!

Ms. Liesl- Performing Arts
Shakespeare's abridged "The Comedy of Errors" delighted students and families alike last week! Congratulations to the fabulous actors and stage crews that pulled off this amazing show. If you missed it, here is the link to Thursday night's performance: (Link to be kept within the circle of REMS family and friends - please do NOT share any of this content publicly or on social media.) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UpbUTuNiIZ-K2n71Y8XJXjrNvcTkKXwg/view?usp=sharing

Ms. JoAnna & Mr. Steve- 6th Grade
Sixth graders at REMS are taking their education outside—literally. With creativity, teamwork, and a grant-funded vision, students transformed an empty space into a vibrant outdoor classroom, blending STEM learning with real-world applications. Utilizing Tinkercad, they designed potential layouts, applying 6th Grade Geometry standards to measure area and scale models. They then created detailed budgets using spreadsheets, aligning with math standards on ratios, rates, and financial literacy.

Students presented their ideas to stakeholders, including a representative from Perfect Turf, who partially donated durable astroturf for the project. Thanks to the grant, the classroom was also equipped with science materials, virtual reality headsets, and even a 3D printer—tools that will support NGSS science standards like engineering design and systems thinking. ELA and speaking skills came into play as students crafted persuasive presentations and explained their project. Their ability to communicate clearly and confidently reflected 6th Grade ELA standards on argument writing and presentation of ideas.

Now complete, the outdoor classroom will serve as a hub for science investigations, reading sessions, and hands-on learning. “It’s awesome to learn outside,” one student shared. “We built it ourselves, and now we get to use and enjoy it every day.” This innovative project not only enhances engagement but empowers students as designers of their own learning—both inside and out.

Ms. Lauren & Ms. Carina- 3rd Grade
On Tuesday, the 3rd grade crews built a crevice garden at the front of our school. This is the culmination of the learning that we have done in expedition about the dry climate in Colorado and the need for water conservation. Students worked in groups to collaborate about landscape proposals incorporating crevice gardens, native plants, and xeriscape. As our final service project, 3rd graders put their learning into action. Please stop by to enjoy our new crevice garden!
