News from Our Crews:

2nd Grade- Writing Celebration:
Crews wrapped up their informational writing unit with a writing celebration! This was the culminating project after weeks of research and drafts to ensure our work was high quality. 2nd Graders shared information about an influential person in history to families with a poster, timeline, and biography book!

Mr. Steve- 6th Grade:
As part of their math unit on ratios, 6th grade students worked to create soccer goals for our field that were scaled down from official MLS goals. They measured the size of our field, then used their learning to determine the dimensions of the soccer goals they created!

Ms. Staci- Art:
Congratulations to 6th Grade student Huddy for creating the winning artwork for the 2025 DCSD Elementary Art Exhibition. Huddy's artwork will be distributed to all DCSD elementary schools as well as the original artwork will be displayed at the Art Exhibition.

Ms. Hillary- Discovery 2/3:

Discovery 4/5 continued learning about the Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse, a local threatened species, through their expedition. Students are actively designing and creating projects aimed at building awareness about this species for our local community. This week a natural resource specialist from the Town of Castle Rock visited to provide authentic feedback to students on their projects. Students are so engaged and excited to complete their projects and help protect the Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse.

Ms. Erin- Library:
What a blast celebrating Read Across America Week! In the library we discussed how books can be mirrors, windows, or doors and why it is important that we read books that reflect ourselves, give us glimpses into the lives of others, and serve as a portal into other worlds. Crews used their detective skills to guess the masked reader- can you guess? A special thank you to all the families who sent books with the their students this week for our epic book exchange. This week sparked book joy for so many!
