NEW! Notes from Ms. Trena!

We are celebrating some amazing successes this week! All of our sixth graders and first graders had a great week kicking off their Fall Voyages! They returned beaming with pride, a little dirty and exhausted, yet smiling and sharing all of their latest adventures! We also had our first Beat of the school year, where our staff presented the Culture of Crew: Core Values to our students.  Many thanks to our IA's teachers, our specialists, and our office staff for participating in a fun, Family Feud spinoff.  Each month a crew will adopt a core value to present to the student body.  Parents of the crew that is presenting will be invited to watch their children's performance.  Please look for an upcoming communication from your child's teacher on their scheduled Beat.

Gratitude:
Thank you to all of our families who have volunteered and signed up as chaperones this first month of school! We have loved welcoming parents back into our school community!

🎉 Huge shout out to our parent community, Parent Crew Foundation and to Perfect Turf for installing the new turf field in our Outdoor Learning Environment! Our students love it!

Carline Support:

  • Gear check will always occur the day before a voyage. Please park in the REMS' parking lot and help your child bring in their gear.  Refrain from pulling into the Kiss-n-Go lane to unload gear.
  • Please refrain from parking in the Early Childhood Center to drop students off. Use the REMS' or Metzler Park lot only.

  • Students should exit the car onto the sidewalk, instead of into the Kiss-n-Go lane for their own safety.
Voyage Medications:
Please ensure that your child's medications are submitted to the Health Room with the proper paperwork one week prior to their voyageIf your student does not have the proper medications and paperwork completed before the deadline, they will not be able to attend their voyage.

October Count:
Our October student count for the 22-23 school year is upon us!  It is crucial that all students are present at REMS on Monday, October 3, 2022 to ensure that we are able to get fully funded from the state for every student that is enrolled with us.  Please refrain from showing up late or scheduling early pick-ups for appointments on this day.  We greatly appreciate your support.

NEW! A Note From Ms. Hope:

  • Please remember to call our attendance line at (303) 387-8002 when your students are going to be absent.

Bond Mill Levy Override News!

This past Tuesday the Board of Education voted unanimously to place a $60M Mill Levy Override and $450M Bond on the November 2022 ballot. If passed by voters, an MLO would enable DCSD to provide pay that is more competitive with other school districts to retain teachers and staff. Should an MLO pass, DCSD teachers, on average, would receive a 9% pay increase, as reflected in these salary schedules. Classified staff members, such as bus drivers, educational assistants, custodians, etc., would receive a 9% increase. Other staff, including school principals and administrators, would receive a 6% pay increase.  A $450 million Bond would help DCSD construct three new neighborhood elementary schools and create additions to two existing middle schools to reduce crowding and plan for growth.

NEW! Community Involvement Opportunities:

Directed by longtime REMS parent, Lorena Perry, the Castle Rock Children’s Choir is in its 4th year. The choir sings at Castle Rock Starlightings, presents a delightful hometown concert each Christmas, and nurtures the talent of singers/dancers from all over Castle Rock and neighboring communities. The benefits of choir are enormous: tonal and rhythmic ability, performance confidence, lots of stage time, movement and coordination, artistry, community social/emotional connection, teamwork, math and language cognitive boost, and a complete workout for both brain hemispheres. If you've got kids ages 6-15 who like to sing, call 303-917-5038. Enrolling through September. Rehearsals start Thursday, Sept. 1 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. 10% of tuition from REMS families will be donated to Renaissance Elementary.
